Hill Walking

The Highlands are a haven for hill walkers with a number of Munros within relatively close proximity to Drumnadrochit.

Meall Fuar-mhonaidh is the most prominent summit around Loch Ness and provides a relatively straightforward hillwalk with good views.

Glen Affric is considered one of the most beautiful glens in the Highlands. A path enables you to walk around Loch Affric with Munros aplenty in the vicinity for the hill walker.

Golf

There are a number of local golf clubs within a short distance of Drumnadrochit, the nearest being in Inverness, Muir of Ord and Aigas.

For golfers seeking the ultimate golf experience there are championship courses at Castle Stuart only 23 miles away, with Royal Dornoch being slightly further at 55 miles away.

Bird Watching and Wildlife

The area is rich in bird species. Sightings of Black Grouse, Golden Eagles, Osprey, Ptarmigan and Capercaillie are possible. Grey wagtails, Dippers, Grey Herons, Red Breasted Mergansers, Goldeneye, Cormorants, Goosander and various types of Gulls are also amomgst the delights you may come across.

A wide variety of animals can be spotted in the area, Red Deer, Pine Martens, Squirrels and Otters to name but a few.

Horse Riding

There are riding stables at nearby Borlum Riding Centre whilst Highland Trekking and Trail Riding at Cougie offers a range of rides including half day and full day treks through the stunning countryside surrounding Tomich and Glen Affric.

Canoeing and Sailing

There are numerous lochs and lochans in the area to explore, each one surrounded by beautiful, rugged and spectacular scenery.

Cycling and Mountain Biking

Fishing

Brown Trout fishing is available in local lochs whilst fishing trips on Loch Ness can be arranged.
